BLC READY TO GIVE FOR CHRISTMAS
Blue Lights College has partnered with Target of Apex to provide an opportunity for students at BLC to assist kids from less fortunate families from our community with Christmas shopping on December 7th. “We want all kids to enjoy Christmas!” said President Jacques K. Gilbert. A goal of $1,500 is being raised to sponsor 10 kids this year. All kids will have a $150 in funds to shop. We will also take gifts to 5 seniors in our community. You can donate at bluelightscollege.org/donate and reference: Christmas. You can also send a check to 530 E. Williams St. Apex, NC 27502. Donations are tax deductible. BLC ATHLETES ENJOY ANNUAL MEDIA DAY
Exciting times at BLC! Another joyful event at BLC. Athletes from all programs enjoyed a day of celebration to kick off the 2019-20 athletic season. Team and individual photographs and interviews were some highlights of the event.
JOSHUA ALSTON NAMED WRESTLING HEAD COACH
Exciting times at BLC! New Wrestling Head Coach Joshua Alston brings energy and experience to the Thoroughbreds! Coach Alston wrestled at Ferrum College. He is also an Amateur MMA Fighter Lightweight Division.

BLC CLASS OF 2019 GRADUATION
Blue Lights College held their commencement exercise for Class of 2019 on May 30, 2019. The first graduating class in the history of the school. Richard Campbell, Jayden Fairclough, Jorge Garcia, Dominique Hunter, Michael Maxwell, and Nicole Torres were recognized at the event. Three graduates are scheduled to attend Wake Tech BLET beginning on July 15, 2019.

PRESIDENT GILBERT SPEAKS AT ATHENS DRIVE HIGH SCHOOL
President Gilbert was guest speaker at Athens Drive High School. The topic of Peace & Justice along with an overview of Blue Lights College was presented to over 300 students and staff.

Please welcome Professor Cassandra Ferraro. Cassandra is a police officer with Carrboro, North Carolina Police Department. She is new to our staff and is teaching LAW101 Criminal Law Components.
SENIOR NIGHT – BLC BASKETBALL
Mike Maxwell, Dominque Hunter, Richard Campbell, and Jorge Garcia were honored February 12, 2019 for their commitment to Blue Lights College men’s basketball program. These students are recognized as the first graduating class of BLC men’s basketball.
BLC PATCH UNVEILED
President Jacques K. Gilbert released the first official college uniform patch for Blue Lights College on January 14, 2019. Special thanks to David George and staff at Read’s Uniforms for assisting with the vision, design, and production of the patch. “The patch clearly represents the tenets of Blue Lights College,” said Captain Gilbert.
STUDENTS GRADUATE FROM 7-WEEK POLICE PREP COURSE
Students Jake Molden and Trevor Hedrick received a certificate for completing Blue Lights College Police/BLET Prep Course. Both students received specialized instruction for seven weeks to prepare them for the rigorous BLET course. Jake and Trevor will start BLET at Central Carolina Community College on January 7, 2019.
BLC EVENT RAISES $2,000 FOR CHARITY
Blue Lights College hosted a fun night of Family Fued Peak Heroes Edition on December 18th. The event featured Apex Police against Apex Fire Department. The event generated $2,000 to be donated to Special Olympics NC and NC Jaycee Burn Center. MARIO PHARR NAMED INTERIM HEAD COACH
Mario Pharr has been named interim head men’s basketball coach for the remainder of the 2018-19 season. “I’m excited about Coach Mario accepting the interim coach position,” said BLC president Captain Gilbert. “He possesses passion for character and skill development of youth basketball players. Coach Mario has been sold out on our college mission from the start. He continues to embrace our pillars of faith, prupose, and trust.”
HENDRICKS LEAVES MEN’S BASKETBALL
Head men’s basketball coach Zach Hendricks announced that he is leaving the program for personal reasons. Hendrick’s, the program’s first coach, will be missed, according to president Jacques Gilbert. “Zach’s enthusiasm was the spark the program needed in its formative stages. We wish Zach all the best.” 11/27/2018
BIRDIES FOR BLUE LIGHTS GOLF EVENT SCHEDULED
We are gearing up for the 2nd Annual Birdies for Blue Lights Charity Golf tournament scheduled for Monday, October 22, 2018. Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. The location this year is at The Preserve at Jordan Lake, just 14 minutes from Apex. Just as last year, it will be a fun time for everyone. BLC freshman students focused in on their first class, Purpose Policing POL101, to start their academic studies for the 2018-2019 Fall Semester on September 6th. President Gilbert led the instruction. Year-2 Senior students started their first class, Cultural Diversity SOC201 facilitated by Professor Van Burton.

COMMITTED TO WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Morgan Klotz visited Blue Lights College and subsequently signed a Letter of Intent, committing to our women’s basketball program. Morgan is a highly recruited basketball player from Savannah, Georgia. This is great news for Head Coach Mario Pharr and BLC athletics! Go Lady Thoroughbreds!

New Men’s Wrestling Head Coach Named
President Jacques K. Gilbert has named Blake Risk as Head Coach for the Blue Lights College Men’s Wrestling program. Blake brings unique skills and experience to the new program. His leadership and passion for the sport of wrestling, will help mold future scholar athletes at Blue Lights College. Coach Risk will work hard to recruit athletes and start the first year program.
